DESCRIPTION:
‘Salty Dog’, Gulfstar 47 Sailmaster hull #75, is a raised salon center cockpit ketch rigged motor sailer. She offers the comfort, range, and performance of a trawler with the exhilaration of sail. She will motor at 6 knots consuming 1.125 gallons of fuel/hour giving her a range of over 1000 nautical miles under power. And she will sail at hull speed, 8.5 knots, on a reach in a fresh breeze. The elevated center cockpit, with bimini and full cockpit enclosure, ensures excellent visibility and a dry ride.
The teak interior and large raised salon windows combine to create a traditionally warm, yet light and airy feel. You will especially appreciate the queen size berth with memory foam mattress in the aft cabin, stand up showers, abundant storage, and apartment sized two door refrigerator/freezer in the galley. Her reliable Perkins diesel engine, 8.5 kw diesel generator, solar panels, 360 gallons of water and 195 gallons of fuel, water maker, bow thruster, heavy ground tackle, and contemporary electronics result in worry free cruising.
We have worked hard to keep her looking good and in reliable mechanical condition. She just completed her bi-annual haul out receiving new bottom paint, top sides buffed and waxed, thruster maintenance, and running gear maintenance including a new cutlass bearing, line cutter and prop. We have extensive maintenance records and can provide the age of most equipment, most of which has been replaced under our ownership.
